What settings do I use for my mail client software?

This article is meant to serve as general documentation of the settings you'll need to use to set up an email client such as Thunderbird, Outlook, Eudora, Mail.app, etc.
Username and Password:

* For the username, use the full email address for the email account you created in cPanel->Mail->'Add/Remove/Manage Accounts'
* For the password, use the password that you set for the email account when you created it.

Outgoing Server (SMTP)

Mail Server

You have two options for the hostname of your outgoing mailserver:
mail.yourdomain.tld (Where 'yourdomain.tld' is your domain name)

If you plan on using SSL for SMTP, option 2 is often a better choice because many mail clients will raise a security warning due to the blanket SSL certificate we use for the server. Using the hostname in option 2 will allow you to avoid these warnings by using a domain name that matches the *.yourdomain.com domain of the SSL certificate.

SMTP Auth

Enable SMTP Authentication
SMTP Port Settings:

* SMTP: 25 (2525 if your ISP blocks port 25 as a SPAM prevention measure)
* SMTPS (SMTP with SSL): 465

Incoming Server (POP3/IMAP)

You'll use the same hostname for your incoming server as your outgoing server (either mail.yourdomain.tld). As with your outgoing server, if you plan on using SSL for your incoming mail, we advise that you use the mail.yourdomain.com hostname format.

POP3 Port Settings

* POP3: 110
* POP3S (POP3 with SSL): 995

IMAP Port Settings

* IMAP: 143
* IMAPS (IMAP with SSL): 993
